rh-Oligopeptide-2 is a single chain recombinant human peptide, produced by fermentation in E. coli (genetic engineering technology). The starting gene is directly isolated from a human cell which codes for Insulin-Like Growth Factor. It contains a maximum of 153 amino acids which may contain disulfide bonds and/or glycosylation.
It is considered to be the most important growth factor due to its function is to activate cell growth, protein synthesis and the release of energy. Because it is the primary growth factor in the ability of cells to grow and reproduce, it is the most valuable for its anti-aging and regenerative effects.
As we age the levels of IGF are declining and this decline in IGF makes the dermal fibroblasts less responsive. IGF-1 posses the ability to stimulate both epithelial cells and fibroblasts to increase proliferation rates. These fragments are very stable and easy to deliver and in some cases outperform the parent growth factors in their ability to stimulate the fibroblast. In addition the growth factor mimetic properties of RG-Cell® products increase the responsiveness of the fibroblast to occurring cytokines. This allows the adult fibroblast to recover a significant amount of its collagen and elastin production.
