Just Turned 30? It’s Time to Take Your Skin Care Seriously!

Sometimes, it seems to happen overnight. You go to bed with perfect skin and you wake up wondering where that wrinkle came from. A woman’s skin goes through some dramatic changes between her 30s and 40s, and this is the time to get serious about your skin care regimen (of course, we recommend you get serious about it before 30).

We have put together a few tips to help ensure your skin looks just as good when you turn 40 as it does right now.

• Start Protecting Your Skin from the Sun – yes, we know you want that beautiful tan, but trust us, you are going to pay for all those hours baking in the sun in a few years. UV rays do a lot of damage, but this can be prevented. Using SPF skin care products and sunscreen are just the beginning. You should also wear a sun protection hat when walking around. If you love those afternoons on the beach, invest in a beach umbrella and stay out of direct sunlight.

• Embrace a Healthier Lifestyle – heading out to the local clubs was great in college. You had a few drinks, maybe socially smoked, and then grabbed some pizza when you got back to your room. Well ladies, those days are over if you want to keep your skin healthy. What you put into your body is just as important as what you put on your body, so start eating healthier, exercise, and if you are going to have a drink, make it a glass of red wine instead of a cosmopolitan!

• Visit a Dermatologist or Skin Care Professional – you may not think you need to do this, but it sure won’t hurt! Seeing a dermatologist or skin care professional will help you identify your actual skin type properly as well as identifying the ingredients you should be looking for in skin care products. Speaking of skin care ingredients

• Learn About Skin Care Ingredients – there are so many products on the market today, you really need to know what you are putting on your skin. This is something you can go over in detail when you set up your dermatologist appointment. Learn more about what products repair damaged skin, what helps soothe dry and irritated skin, etc.

• Don’t Be Afraid of Change – as you get older, hormones change, and this will affect your skin. Over the next few years, you may have to evolve your daily skin care routine as your skin evolves.
